City of Lakes - Udaipur

A thought kept circling back to us throughout our time in Udaipur, and it’s stayed with us ever since we left: why on earth hadn't we visited sooner? It’s the kind of place that settles into your soul immediately—so incredibly peaceful, yet brimming with a heavy, rich history at every turn. We spent hours wandering through the City Palace, and honestly, the collections there completely floored us. Discovering the intricate miniature art and the pichwai paintings felt like a genuine find of a lifetime; there’s something about seeing that level of craftsmanship up close that stays with you. Beyond the heritage, we wanted to really see the city, so we spent our days weaving through the narrow little streets. We made it our mission to hunt down the local favorites, hopping between Paliwal Kachori, Roop ji Nashta, Lala Misthan Bhandar, and Jagdish Misthan. We ate our way through the city, and every stop felt like a little victory. To balance out the bustle of the streets, we stayed right on the banks of Lake Pichhola. There’s a specific kind of serenity you find sitting by those waters—the view is just as scenic and calming as you’d imagine. Looking back, Udaipur was everything we didn't know we were missing, and I’m already trying to figure out how we can get bacak.
